Kamo Story: How Twitter user upset the world with a fake rape story

@justkhuthi (story teller)

Yesterday, South African twitter was agog with the gruesome story of a rape victim who never lived to tell her story. Her best friend therefore took it upon herself to narrate the ugly events that led to her friend's shortlived end.

5 Reasons why Netflix won't work in Nigeria

1. Finance: you would need to have a monthly subscription plan running in order to use the service. You would also need to pay for the exhorbitant internet connection

February Elections - a poem

Elections are round the corner,
we all seem cornered
by the flying propaganda
and the winged slanderous libels.

characters ruthlessly smeared
in the stinking mud of newspapers
by opposition parties,
who recklessly wield opposition media
same way the Boko-haram insurgents
unabashedly wield violence in a Nation
where a failed government,
has no face to bury in shame.

Fairly used Love - a poem

How can you stare me in the face blatantly
and lie so confidently.

How can you say yes so soon
and double back so quickly.

How can you french kiss 2 minutes
and already gossiping in 5 minutes.

How can you promise to catch a grenade,
yet lie here fatally wounded by cupid.

Mosquitoes - a poem

Power went off!
darkness in its starkness
overthrew the dying fluorescent.
the fan stopped its revolution.
An eerie quiet ensued.

My 5 inches phone screen
floods its white lights
on my face.
gradually, the insects,
the moths and the mosquitoes
found their way to this small light.

Soon, the mosquitoes started inserting
their proboscis,
and the moths practised an incoherent
dance on my face.

I lit the insect repellant incense,
we inhale,
man and insects alike,
they to their death,
I to my ill-health.

ERHABOR CYNTHIA

ERHABOR CYNTHIA

Number 12 on the class list is Erhabor Cynthia, a light-skinned beauty all the way from Edo state. Average height, beautiful face, confident voice and very social in nature, Cynthia is a very good friend and gisting partner whenever the need for gossip arises. Also known as 'don't touch my body', her high level of morality and if i dare say, chastity, does not condone any form of conscious or accidental contact with either her mammary glands or her 'behind'. If she ever catches you in this act, then all hell would be let loose, infarct that is the most effective way of wiping of a smile on her face.

Also on the

FALUJO KEHINDE

FALUJO KEHINDE

Yes! As the name implies and as you may have forgotten to realize, he has a twin brother, that's exactly why his name is Kehinde.
Kenny as we all preferred to call him is a rather handome, focused, honest and modest young man. However the bulk of his charm lies in his Simplicity, especially with regards to dressing and appearance.

surely, one of the most uncommon sites on earth is to see kenny putting on a pair of Shoes, infarct one has a higher chance of witnessing an eclipse than seeing kenny putting on shoes. He prefers

IHEANETU CHIOMA

IHEANETU CHIOMA A.K.A Mumcy

Although i prefer to call her Mumcy because of her advancement in age and the fact that indeed she has her own Children, most of whom are grown ups, Madam Chioma is a highly motivated Woman, whose quest for knowledge and probably an advancement in social status led her to study in the Univeristy even when most people in her age bracket would resent to do so.

Mumcy was the Course representative or Class governor for 3 out of the 4 years we spent in School. Although like every other leader else where, she was criticized and nearly crucified by some revolutionary elements in the Class, what is however unarguable is that she also deserve to be commended for taking up such a responsibility willingly, even when she could have easily reneged from doing so in favour of her other more pressing and financially rewarding responsibilities both to her family and business.

Unexpectedly for her age, she had a good rapport with practically everyone in the class. Her dress sense was even better off than some younger folks, even as her immense interest in the acquisition of knowledge and education cannot be described by mere words. Infarct her ever increasing quest for knowledge meant that she graduated with a better result than some other younger members of the class. Although this write up may seem patronising and biased, however it is

TODAY ON THE CLASS SERIES IS EGBUNA HOPE

EGBUNA HOPE

Females are widely renowned for their love for gist and gossip, therefore it is very rare to see a woman who does not have a collection of friends and partners in crime, generally speaking, Women are very sociable people. It is somewhat strange to see a Lady who does not have a horde of friends swarming over and around her at all times, it is in the light of this truth that i present to you one of the members of this rather special specie; Hope.

Generally inclined to keep to herself and in some cases the

5 bad habits to drop in 2015

1. Belief that someone else would help you out
If after spending 20 days in the new year, you are still walking around expecting one person or the other to miraculously bring you the desired success or change, then you are not yet ready for the new year. The only person worth believing is yourself, your abilities and God.
2. procrastination
If you are still about to do what you

UNILAG FRESHERS 2015: 10 things you need to know which they did not tell you at the official orientation ceremony

Yesterday, 23rd January 2015 marked the matriculation ceremony for new entrants into the University of Lagos (UNILAG) this event was held at the Multipurpose halls of the institition.
However there are a few things which all the 'official' orientation in the world would never tell you, therefore we got a very fresh Alumni of the university to give us a list of 10 things you need to know as a Unilag freshman. This is just information, not advice, so whatever you do with it, is clearly at your discretion.

1. You are "on Your own"

For some people with very rich or overprotective parents, your whole life until this point may have been rosy and paved with gold, with maids and

CLASS SERIES CONTINUES TODAY WITH EGBEDOYIN MARIA

It is a widely held belief that the only constant thing in life is change, infarct, when it comes to humans, our universal surname should be 'change'. Even the most principled people at some point or the other would have to bend their rules, make some adjustment and shift grounds, no matter how minute it may be. Based upon this subject of change therefore, i welcome you into the world of the very dynamic Egbedoyin Maria Temitope.

Although the Biblical interpretation of Maria means sorrowful, sad or bitter, however the Maria i know represents the exact opposite of all these

DAVID OYINDAMOLA FEATURES TODAY ON THE CLASS SERIES

DAVID OYINDAMOLA
A handsome young man with a flair for fun and entertainment, unlike his biblical counterpart, Oyindamola David had no interest whatsoever in politics, neither has he killed any Bears yet. If there is anything killing about him, then it is his exquisite collection of clothes, and even more killing is the way he combines them to produce a very striking and attractive personality. From my own opinion, David was the best dressed Male throughout the whole of University of Lagos, i had never seen him look bad in any attire before, infarct many times i have stopped to wonder whether he was made for clothes or clothes were made for him, but i always came to the conclusion that he possessed a piece of both features.
Quite a free spirited and approachable individual, however his gentility may easily be misconstrued for pride and his exclusivity mistaken for arrogance, however

IT’S A MANS WORLD… TRUTH OR CONSPIRACY?

ITS A WOMAN'S WORLD
Contrary to what many might think, I was in the right frame of mind when I came up with this theory.
Anyone who has been reading linda ikeji’s blog would have noticed the recent display of IN LINDAS WORDS “EGGPLANTS” by the guys. Upon reading the comments posted below the pictures, guess what I found. A lot of them were posts by ladies. The rest were mostly by guys claiming to have bigger in one sense or the other. It got me thinking, why?
Why are ladies allowed to post pics of themselves in bathing suits and bikinis and crop tops and sometimes like KIM K, total nude and still receive nice comments? A lot of these comments come from guys.
Why are we so wrapped around their fingers that we usually can’t see beyond the booty and tits they are always waving at us to keep our attention?
I know a lot of people will hit back at this with statements like NOT ALL WOMEN ARE LIKE THAT or ITS GUYS THAT ARE INTERESTED. Well I want to set a little challenge. For all those still dependent on their fathers, have you ever wondered why

CLASS SERIES CONTINUES TODAY WITH - AKACHUKWU CHIEDU

AKACHUKWU CHIEDU - 09

The person under review today is rather a complex being, yet simple in his complexity, he is also a disciplined individual, yet flexible in his rigidity. A stingy person by nature, yet cheerful in his giving. A box load of contrasts and ironies. Suffice to say, his reactions are not automated, they are dynamic reactions, tailored to the particular situation at any given point in time and also depending on the  individual involved and the person's relationship with Him. It is rather complex how Chiedu can be very reserved a times and in the very next minute blooming with radiance like the rising Sun.

Yes, i know it seems rather like a strange way to start this, but then there couldn't have been a better way. It is no secret that many people exude confidence, although most of them are not borne from inner assurance or presence of any significant value to either society and mankind. Many people are just confident of the fact that their Naira bet ticket is 'Sure', others are confident of their looks and once their appearance is questioned, their confidence comes crashing to the

AS PROMISED, TODAY WE BRING YOU, LOVE SEX AND MONEY, A THRILLING TALE OF YOUTHFUL ROMANCE BY THE TALENTED - AKANGBE OLADAYO. PART 2

It was exactly one week from my rendezvous with..........what was that girls name again? Can't remember now. We had done it in the office and she had screamed my name. It felt so good I wanted to ask for more. It was a very unforgettable quickie for me. Best I ever had. But that was one week ago and I had invited Anu over to my house today. I will make sure we have sex today, we've been dating for almost a year now and she was giving me one crappy line about marriage and virtue and virginity. Who cares? Men don't even want to marry virgins again. Or she doesn't know? Aaah she did not "jasi" sef. I just want to help her ni, lemme help her and cut it now so she will be free, she is doing anyhow anyhow. Shiooor. Let her come first. Worst worst, Spanish fly ló má sè isè yén.
I had told her to buy a bucket of grilled chicken and ice cream.
That ice cream is what will make the work faster sef. Just watch daddy Chris work.
I was at the door immediately she knocked. I opened the door to see my pretty girlfriend looking more beautiful than I remembered. Casual clothes, white teeth and a pretty face. I hugged her first then kissed her as I ushered her in.
"I'm pretty famished, where is the food abeg"

Unlike some of his very professional poems, in this poem, Dipe 'Shane' Oluwatobi, finally stooped low for we laymen to understand! Great Poetry!

The Centre Of the Cosmic Balance

In the centre of the cosmic balance,
Humanity stands,
Heralded as the king
Of the universe.

An ill-fated battle
Rages on
Between the past, and the present.
The present and the future.
Humanity has pitted both ideas
Against one and all.

Tell us the story of your life,
Marked by tears like the August rain,
With bouts of sunshine.
Then shall I tell you mine.
When fear smiled through mine eyes.
The fear of the known.
The fear of the unknown.

The present revels in wisdom,
But lacks the courage of the future.

Walk with us now,
On this bright dawn of companionship,
Let us explore new horizons.

So, together
We searched.
High in the sky
Far on the earth
Deep in the sea.

For wisdom dictated our paths,
And with courage, we forged on.
The present was decided by the past,
And the future shall be written
By the present.

The battle cannot be won by one.
Imagine, if they were allies,
Then victory shall be won by all.
And the centre of the cosmic balance,
Shall be preserved for posterity.

See how the poem came to be " That's one poem my baby sister asked me to do for her, about youth vs experience." -Tobi

CLASS SERIES CONTINUES TODAY WITH THE PRETTY - ALAKO YETUNDE - 06

Yetunde, also known in some quarters as ‘Arab money’ is neither of Arabian descent, nor spends like one. An attempt to describe her physical appearance may prove abortive for reasons best known to only us her former classmates and some other people who may know her on a personal level. Whatever description I give you now may actually be outdated by the time you finally meet her and God help you if you even come close to recognising her and the new look.
Prone to sudden change of appearance, Yetunde’s love for fashion is second to none. Her ability to keep abreast with latest trends in clothing, hairdos and accessories has always left me bewildered yet impressed. Infarct, if sentiment was to be kept aside, she would have unanimously won a contest for the best dressed female in the class. With her classy hairdos, matching outfits and complementary make-over, every other female in the class could not help but wish they had enough fervor and
