7 definite signs that you're not yet a social media addict

social media addiction

1. You don't take your phone to the Toilet: If you currently do have the decency to take a dump without seeing it as a golden opportunity to check your social media notifications, then you're safe. Congrats

2. You can sleep without dreaming of Facebook, Twitter or IG: Many times, I've tweeted in my dreams, mostly because I sleep off with my phone in my hands. If you haven't gotten to the stage where you see Facebook, Twitter or Instagram in your dreams, you're lucky, you haven't been infected

3. If you pray every morning before you check your notifications: this one is plain simple, if you have the restraint to say a word of prayer first thing in the morning before grabbing your phone, then you're not an addict. Thank God for your Life

How Davido and Hush Puppi turned Nigerians into beggars on twitter

So I was busy at work, but decided to take a quick Twitter break, then this tweet from @Sir_xcel caught my attention.

How Tayo, former BBA star emerged first celebrity scapegoat for this week

Tayo Faniran
Tayo Faniran

Last Sunday, being the first day of the week ushered in the first social media banter of this week. It so happened that Tayo Faniran, a former Big Brother Africa winner, who also is a model and mu..mu..ssiiick.cian performed at the non-eviction show of the current Big Brother Nigeria competition. Suffice to say, Tayo 'killed' the show, from the quality of music to his stellar performance! By the time he was done, he left the stage trending on twitter for all the wrong reasons, even as he ended up stealing all of Iyanya's shine (Iyanya was supposed to be the star act for the night, but then Tayo happened).

7 Life lessons Unilag taught me

Uni was filled with memorable lessons for me. From having to cope with different types of people, to learning how to say no and detecting when a friendship is no longer necessary. Here is a list of 7 things I learned from uni summed up in seven stories

1. Never assume that anyone knows it all, instead believe in your own abilities: This perhaps is the most important and in fact the main reason for this write-up. Every time we had exams, we will all gather in front of the venue of the exam, usually a multipurpose hall or lecture room. While waiting for the invigilators, security personnel and concerned lecturer to come, I noticed that this became the most challenging moment of the whole exam period for me. While we were gathered, different people would start asking you questions, suggesting answers and bringing up topics you have never heard of before. At this point, you start feeling like you're ill-prepared for the exam. If care is not taken, they will project so many wrong and haphazard answers into your mind, so much that when you finally get into the exam hall, you become confused and uncertain about answers to questions that you know. By my third year, I decided to start going 10 minutes late for my exams. Guess what? that semester, I made my best GPA in Unilag.

stop measuring your life based on things you see on social media

Yesterday I found myself attending a meeting somewhere around Marina, so i quickly adjusted my shirt, practiced my trademark smile and selfie pose, then took a couple of selfies at the reception before the meeting proper.

Next phase, was to determine which social media platform i had to post the best version of the selfie on, this was the point were some factors came into play. First it was a relatively new shirt, i looked good in it and i hadn't posted any previous pictures of it on social media, so baam! i decided it was the perfect pic for the gram (Instagram).

MMM Nigeria and the reality of a society that wants you to fail

An estimated 3 million Nigerians who had 'invested' in MMM Nigeria had their funds 'freezed' last December. The MMM authorities gave a clear reason for this freeze and even published a resumption date for normal operation to recommence, but guess what happened? most people, especially those who didn't invest in the Ponzi started peddling rumours that the scheme had 'crashed'. Gradually, these 'rumours' became so strong that pages of Newspaper and social media-published articles were written with several case studies being cited to back the fact that MMM Nigeria had crashed for good.

The many beneficiaries of Mr Eazi's controversial tweet

Mr Eazi and his controversial tweet

I personally woke up on the morning of January 12th to find 'Mr Eazi' & 'Ghana' trending on Twitter. I immediately knew something was fishy, since good news seldom trend on twitter except if it were a paid trend. Going through the tweets on both trends, It took me 5 seconds to realise that Mr Eazi had not only rekindled the Ghana-Nigeria twitter beef, but had also gone past the traditional 'jollof rice' topic to introduce a new dimension which was 'whose music influenced the other'. According to Mr Eazi, Ghana sounds had a huge influence on contemporary Nigerian music.

why making new year resolution is trash

New year resolutions are stupid things, if you ask me. Maybe for Children, it would make sense, but for a grown-ass adult, its as much a mark of laziness, unreadiness and lethargy towards doing the needful.

Did you make it to my top people of the year? read this to know!

The year started on a very slow note for me. By January, i was still a serving Corps member in Kaduna. I didn't travel for the Christmas/New year Holidays, so i was stuck all by myself in far away Kaduna, at the mercy of a biting chilly cold more popularly known as Harmattan.

By Now, i was already a member of the Abengowe family, who travelled and left their Kaduna residence to my care. That Family was really warm and welcoming. God Bless them for me

6 very important benefits of having an argument

6 Benefits of having an argument

Arguments can really get messy sometimes, other times like wildfire it grows into a feast of verbal attacks and fist-fights. These are not enough to deter one from arguing from time to time. here are 6 benefits of having an argument

1. It makes you smarter: remember the last time you argued? I guess you won right? Lol. Winning an argument gives you this feeling of smartness and losing an argument makes you want to research more on the topic in case of next time.

2. It makes you more rationale: an argument usually have at least two sides to it. In the course of every argument, you'd realize how myopic you have been in your thinking. Every party brings their own view of the issue to the table and no matter who wins, you would have gained a better more holistic view of that particular topic compared to what you knew before.

3. It keeps you better informed: you can't watch Al-Jazeera, CNN, BBC, NTA & Channels all at the same time, neither can you read 3 brands of magazines at the same time. What an argument does is to help you learn from the wealth of knowledge or stupidity of others. Usually within the first few minutes, all the non-issues in an argument are trashed out and everyone begins to quote more facts and figures. That is the best time to open your ears and mind to learn more.

4. It makes you mentally alert: the joy of winning the last argument coupled with the fear of losing the next argument would always keep you on your toes. Your brain learns to be more active, retain more information and observe your environment better.

5. It makes you want to learn more: during the course of an argument, different facts and Falsehoods pop-up. The need to actually ascertain what is true and what is false would prompt you to want to research, read and learn more about that subject matter. As a lover of arguments, you also understand the need to regularly fortify yourself with enough ammo (information) to win the next argument whenever and wherever it happens.

6. It improves your creativity: as an argumentative, with time you begin to argue with yourself. You don't just accept things the way they are, you want to try out new times, explore fresh perspectives, implement new ideas and spend time trying to determine which is the best way to do something. In essence, you become more creative.

In conclusion, arguments actually makes you a better person, helps your personal confidence and human relations skill, it inspires you to read, explore and live a fun and crazy lifestyle. Don't pass up that golden opportunity to argue the next time you find it and always remember to learn something new from every argument.

why do Nigerian adults fight over food at public events?

Adult women at an event

How people quickly calculate the value of a plate of food over their expensive shoes, Aso-ebi, jewelries and self respect have never ceased to baffle me. Its common place to see jewelries strewn all over the floor after food has been fought over, clothes torn, punches and scratches exchanged, let's not even talk about the hellish abuses that would be exchanged in this process.
