I personally woke up on the morning of January 12th to find 'Mr Eazi' & 'Ghana' trending on Twitter. I immediately knew something was fishy, since good news seldom trend on twitter except if it were a paid trend. Going through the tweets on both trends, It took me 5 seconds to realise that Mr Eazi had not only rekindled the Ghana-Nigeria twitter beef, but had also gone past the traditional 'jollof rice' topic to introduce a new dimension which was 'whose music influenced the other'. According to Mr Eazi, Ghana sounds had a huge influence on contemporary Nigerian music.
Ghana's influence on present day "Naija Sound" cannot be over emphasized!!!— Accra2Lagos 11th feb (@mreazi) January 11, 2017
This was a grave mistake on his part, as history has shown that the only person allowed to criticize Nigeria are Nigerians. No one on social media tries to pitch Nigeria against some other African country and does not expect a strong wave of emotional responses, and that is exactly what Mr Eazi got.
Here are examples of such responses

Devil is somewhere right now pushing Mr eazi to tweet Ghanaian Jollof is better than Nigerian Jollof so he can finally end his career— I will be fine ™ (@Lyricalwizzy) January 12, 2017

For all I care, Mr Eazi was the most talked about topic on Nigerian Twitter yesterday, even his #LifeIsEazi concert didn't attract such a massive response from Twitter users. Eventually, other artistes like Wizkid, Skales and Wande coal got dragged into the mess.
Wizkid really went to ghana & packed the only four superstars they have. ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ now they have taken their sound. How won't they be upset.— The Goddess ✨ (@Brendalishus) January 12, 2017
@wizkidayo goodevejng sir...your signee said Ghana has influence on daddy yo 😊 https://t.co/rBy80PPNI5— Adefowora (@Adebolaa_O) January 11, 2017
For the Daddy yo crooner, it was good PR, since he got more positive reviews mainly bothering on how he helped Mr Eazi's career by signing him on StarBoy Music
@mreazi u don't know there is space behind skales.. we will drop you there if u misbehave— Dr NomSo (@ani_nomso) January 11, 2017
As much as we joke about Skales all the time, if a citizen of another country drags him.. His whole country is in trouble— Zaddy (@DoyeAlba) January 12, 2017
For Skales, it was good PR, and an opportunity for his name to pop-up on everyone's lips. Although he was mainly used for memes and presented as an ideal underdog who could be used as a replacement for Mr Eazi, Skales shouldn't worry, after all the controversy on his real worth yesterday, more Nigerians will be willing to listen to any new work he drops, just to be sure exactly where to put him, behind or ahead of Mr Eazi.

The biggest gainer was definitely Wande Coal. Many had good things to say about the 'iskaba' crooner. The praises were so much, i though he had bribed the whole of TwitterNG. If there was anything we unanimously agreed on yesterday, it is the fact that WC is a fantastic artiste whose craft is not receiving as much accolade and attention as it truly deserves
Some naija soundz is azonto inspired, alkaida inspired,hi-life inspired, even if u hear "mad over u" u go tink 8s a Ghanaian singing @mreazi— Juliet Ibrahim (@julietibrahim) January 12, 2017
Madam Juliet Ibrahim quickly rode on the waves of Mr Eazi's Twitter mishap to gain some relevance. It was a strategic move by her as she got her own fair share of the curses and abuses, never mind, it will count as good PR eventually, since weeks from now we will remember just her name and not the 140-character she gave in support of Mr Eazi's controversial opinion. Aunty Juliet, nice one!
Baba its a God wave! Not Man Made!! & wetin i talk na tru talk https://t.co/XXqZsdZgTM— Accra2Lagos 11th feb (@mreazi) January 11, 2017
Finally, whether this was good or bad PR for Mr Eazi is hard to tell. The dude has a lot of appeal, everything about his music is 'on point' and although some Nigerians begged to differ, Mr Eazi clearly stated and I quote that His success 'is a God wave, not Man Made'. All these combined with the fact that he already offered Nigerians a public mildly sarcastic apology should mean the whole saga was more of a lesson than good PR for him.
Just got a call, my fam in Imeko are doing family meeting to deport me to Ghana! Abeg my Naija people no vez pic.twitter.com/tGrMF379Ia— Accra2Lagos 11th feb (@mreazi) January 12, 2017
From now hence, he would learn to face his music and not pitch Nigeria against any other country, I hope he has learned this lesson already, because when the Devil wants to pull you down, he has a way of partially making you deaf to reasoning. Altogether, it was absolute fun reading through the pile load of tweets supporting and dissenting Mr Eazi's position, suffice to say, that saga made my day.
Somewhere in my mind of minds, I believe all these would eventually amount to good PR for Mr Eazi, whose youthful exuberance and sudden success may have caused an influenza which made him over estimate himself and consequently overreached his bounds. In the coming months, we all will find out if my position on this is wrong or right, but till then, let's take life Eazi.
Oh, I forgot to mention this poll, I created. Kindly vote and dont forget to follow ya bwoy.
