6 Benefits of having an argument

Arguments can really get messy sometimes, other times like wildfire it grows into a feast of verbal attacks and fist-fights. These are not enough to deter one from arguing from time to time. here are 6 benefits of having an argument

1. It makes you smarter: remember the last time you argued? I guess you won right? Lol. Winning an argument gives you this feeling of smartness and losing an argument makes you want to research more on the topic in case of next time.

2. It makes you more rationale: an argument usually have at least two sides to it. In the course of every argument, you'd realize how myopic you have been in your thinking. Every party brings their own view of the issue to the table and no matter who wins, you would have gained a better more holistic view of that particular topic compared to what you knew before.

3. It keeps you better informed: you can't watch Al-Jazeera, CNN, BBC, NTA & Channels all at the same time, neither can you read 3 brands of magazines at the same time. What an argument does is to help you learn from the wealth of knowledge or stupidity of others. Usually within the first few minutes, all the non-issues in an argument are trashed out and everyone begins to quote more facts and figures. That is the best time to open your ears and mind to learn more.

4. It makes you mentally alert: the joy of winning the last argument coupled with the fear of losing the next argument would always keep you on your toes. Your brain learns to be more active, retain more information and observe your environment better.

5. It makes you want to learn more: during the course of an argument, different facts and Falsehoods pop-up. The need to actually ascertain what is true and what is false would prompt you to want to research, read and learn more about that subject matter. As a lover of arguments, you also understand the need to regularly fortify yourself with enough ammo (information) to win the next argument whenever and wherever it happens.

6. It improves your creativity: as an argumentative, with time you begin to argue with yourself. You don't just accept things the way they are, you want to try out new times, explore fresh perspectives, implement new ideas and spend time trying to determine which is the best way to do something. In essence, you become more creative.

In conclusion, arguments actually makes you a better person, helps your personal confidence and human relations skill, it inspires you to read, explore and live a fun and crazy lifestyle. Don't pass up that golden opportunity to argue the next time you find it and always remember to learn something new from every argument.
