AFARIOGUN OLUSOLA - 03
During our primary and secondary school years, we had been taught socialization as a topic in social studies and Government. We were made to memorize all the agents of socialization and an emphasis was always made on the family and the peer group, i never knew the reason for this until i came into the University of Lagos and witnessed the transforming power of the peer group, not only in my life, but also in that of a good friend and former course mate 'Adeola'.
Calm, gentle, quiet, handsome, and intelligent, Adeola as we all fondly called him, came into the University of Lagos as a properly groomed, homely and well-trained Child, however before we graduated, the rest they say was History.
Adeola ranks among the few Loyal people still walking the Earth, throughout his 4-year stay in School, he was known mainly by two Friends; Mustapha and Kenny. The trio managed to build a friendship that could have worn an award if not for some unforeseen eventualities.
Quite Social and well versed in the social etiquettes and requirements of the Ideal UNILAG Boy, Deola was also a very funny individual or so he thinks. Without any attempt to malign his character, i would have to Label him a Verbal Bully, because of his incessant choice of innocent and harmless people to practice his new jokes on. Also a very intense Lover, Adeola is the only person i know in real life who managed to keep the lid on a crush for four years, thank the heavens, he finally got the stuff out of his mind before graduation.
On a rather personal basis, he has been very helpful to me as an individual and to the Association of Arts and Social Sciences Education Students Association (ASSESA) as a body. His dedication to work and assignments (non-school assignments o) is very commendable, unlike classes, he always showed up early at ASSESA meetings, also a very patient and understanding individual he never walked out on any of those meetings even when he had to wait hours for others to arrive. I should make it a point of note to state that He is also a reflective thinker, whenever it came to serious Business, he said less and consequently made more sense whenever he finally spoke.
I must confess, i owe him a lot of appreciation for his immeasurable support throughout my tenure as the President of the Department's students association (ASSESA) in the 2013/2014 academic session. Although we have a certain secret clash of interest, it is however insignificant when compared to the Love and respect i have for him.
good one man, Adeola alias Adebobo have made me understand more on d effects of environment on peoples way of life...
