THE SUCCESS RECIPE

The word recipe is more associated with cooking; however it connotes an even wider scope of meaning.
According to the oxford advanced American dictionary, recipe can be defined “as a method or an idea that is likely to have a particular result”.

RECIPES FOR ACHIEVING ACADEMIC SUCCESS.

LOVE WHAT YOU ARE DOING: even when you are offered a different course of study other than the one you applied for, you should try to develop love for that course, because doing what you hate is more or less like being punished.

SHUN PROCRASTINATION: the earlier you realize your purpose for being in school, the better your chances of succeeding. Therefore everything ranging from assignments, course registration, signing of course forms and printing of dockets ETC should be done promptly. Also early arrival to classes and exams is necessary.

REGULAR STUDIES: reading should commence immediately the session resumes. Every evening, one should try to revise all the notes and lectures for that day. And where this is not possible, it should be done unfailingly during the ensuing weekend. Also topics for the next class should be studied beforehand to enhance proper understanding.

SELF ASSESSMENT: at the end of every study, a student should assess himself by setting questions from what he had previously read. Alternatively, the revision questions at the end of each chapter in the text book (if any) should be answered.

SET REALISTIC GOALS: have a list of reasonable targets and set a specific timeframe to achieve them. Such goals could include personal time-tables, expected grades in each course, and overall G.P for the semester or session in question.
