They say the best things in life comes free to us, if this quote is anything to go by, then friendship is of a certainty one of the best things in life since it is usually free and no monetary inducements given to acquire it.
My sojourn in the University of Lagos brought me in contact with many awesome people, some of whom i have already discussed in previous posts here. However, Imevebor Paul was a God-sent, and saying that i am blessed to be friends with him is are understatement.
Paul was a tall, handsome young man, full of energy, zeal and vitality. He also possessed the right social skills which meant he had an array of friends everywhere he went to. It is not unusual to find him easily striking up conversations with total strangers, especially the ladies, infarct i can still remember our first and second years in school, when he would just stop these ladies on the sidewalks of UNILAG and before you could say 'Jack' he was already in custody of their phone numbers, displaying all of his 32's and waving them bye with a promise to call them later, this was a promise he rarely kept.
Easy going and with a rather fine sense of humour, Paul was
one of the best of my course mates. From the outset, he had displayed his resourcefulness and industriousness by being the proud manager of a booming business centre in school. His interest in academic work and intellectual rigours is also commendable, considering that he had never been among the endangered species on campus, these are those who were on 'probation'.
Through the course of walking and working with him, both on and off different ventures, especially during my tenure as Departmental association president (ASSESA), an administration in which he also served as the Treasurer, I have realised that he is a very humble, caring, cheerful and philanthropic individual, he is generous to a fault, and i never saw him get annoyed in four years, not even the smallest sign of sadness or anger ever crossed his permanently happy face. Also, with time, i learnt that he had a head full of business ideas and a heart configured to solve problems and proffer solutions.
On a conclusive note, i thank God for bringing me in contact with such a lively and lovely individual, although i cannot clearly remember how and when we first met, but this must have occurred very early in our first semester, considering that we have been friends for as long as i was in UNILAG.
interesting piece... i like it. good work from a friend
