Can we really trust NYSC food? - The NYSC chronicles part 3

"If i hear say i chop tuwo" was the first thing i heard immediately she picked my call. Upon further enquiry, i realised that she was actually replying one of her fellow Corpers who had asked her if she was interested in the dinner being offered that night; Tuwo.
I don't know about every single camp in the country, but i sincerely hope that part of the acculturation process does not involve forcing Corpers to eat the local dishes of their host communities. Else, why would you offer Tuwo to an Edo girl who had spent a better part of her life in Lagos. I guess this is just one of those dynamics of NYSC which may never be fully demystified.

In the same vein, a friend currently undergoing orientation at the Kogi camp has lamented the poor quality of food offered in camp. She also brought it to my notice that the Governor of the state Idris Wada, the state's Chief Justice and other top officials of the state all refused to make a personal appearance at the camp, but instead chose to be represented by subordinates who also arrived as late as an hour after schedule, leaving the expectant Corpers basking under the fiery Sun. Even when they eventually arrived, they spent less than thirty minutes within the camp premises.
On the bright side however, reports from Rivers, Sokoto and Akwa Ibom states indicate that the food there is quite good and passable, although most Corpers would agree that it is actually of inferior standard compared to homemade food.
Just for the record, Reekado Banks made an appearance at Oyo camp yesterday, while those in Lagos camp also had a very huge concert, featuring top artistes and Comedians.
