IPAYE MORAYO

Frankly speaking, i am not a believer in coincidence. Therefore, although it just dawned on me that two of my best friends in School followed one the other on the class list, however i still do not want to consider this an accident, i would rather think of it as an act of God, a miracle intentionally orchestrated by some superior being somewhere who only could toy with the affairs and destinies of men as he wishes, without anyone ever questioning Him.
Morayo was a very energetic and extremely exuberant young Lady. Her energy could not be compared to that of anyone i knew then nor know now. From Day 1, she made it clear through her actions that she was not one to hide in a crowd, neither was she one whose voice was to be drowned by that of others. Infarct, if there was going to be any noise at all, then she should be the one engineering it and no one else.
For a playful individual like her, one could assume that she would be un-serious with her academics, however she never was. Her intelligence was
as enviable as her tongue lashing was detestable. Just a few hours she invests in academic work could easily land her in an A or B grade. Even those who slept in the library and wore tight faces like the knotted end of a granny's wrapper did not score as high as she did.
Rich, talkative, restive, active, beautiful, bold and a helpless lover girl, Morayo was the definition of trouble. She can disturb you from now till eternity until she gets whatever it is she wants from you, whenever she decides to shade, she shades indiscriminately not minding whose Ox is gored.
Inasmuch as She could appear as a Super Woman in public, beneath all the pomp and fan fair, she is really a loving, caring and concerned individual. She hopes to improve everyday, loves her family, values friendship and quite generous. She has learnt to lock up unhappiness, sadness and boredom in some dark cage, where they can never get to her. Even surprising was her rapid closeness to God in our final year, becoming a worker in a fellowship, reading her Bible and having serious thoughts about marriage and the future.
Suffice to say, the Morayo of Four years ago had evolved into a better person, more focused, goal oriented and with a rather greater resolve to channel her talents and features into productive ventures.
On a personal note, we were friends from our second year until sometime in our final year when egos grew and ruptured the humility-coated casing holding our friendship. With her, i was able to love unconditionally and selflessly, and the happiest day of my life was not even the day i gained admission, but the day she emerged winner at the faculty elections, were she had contested for the position of Social director. In all, I think there is no right way to end this story, so i'd just end it abruptly.
